THE BENEFITS OF ROUTINE PROFESSIONAL TEETH CLEANING

Your oral health depends on two factors: your willingness to brush and floss regularly and your commitment to seeing your dentist every six months for an oral exam and professional teeth cleaning. You may wonder why you need to visit the dental professional so often if you are taking great care of your teeth and gums on your own, but even the most diligent patients can miss hard-to-reach areas of the mouth and leave themselves vulnerable to tooth decay and periodontal disease. Your six-month oral exam will ensure that your dentist spots any problems early in their development, but professional teeth cleaning may prevent those oral health issues, the most devastating of which is periodontal disease all together.

SCALING AND POLISHING

Scaling removes the hard tartar which forms on your teeth like scale inside a kettle. You can't remove it just by brushing your teeth. Scaling also removes trapped food and plaque containing millions of germs, which can cause tooth decay and gum disease. Stains from coffee, tea, cigarettes or red wine are also cleaned away when we polish your teeth. It is a procedure to clean the accumulated tartar and stains between the teeth and on the lingual side of the teeth using ultrasonic vibrator. Scaling keeps your teeth clean and the gums healthy thereby preventing any gum diseases. Scaling is usually a single sitting procedure and takes about 40 to 45 min only. It is only a myth that scaling creates gap in the teeth. The fact is it removes the tartar which causes spaces between the teeth.

TOOTH FILLING

A filling is a way to restore a tooth damaged by decay back to its normal function and shape. Materials used for fillings include porcelain, a composite resin (tooth-colored fillings), and an amalgam (an alloy of mercury, silver, copper, tin and sometimes zinc). At Orthosquare our dental experts helps prevent further decay by closing off spaces where bacteria can enter with a ceramic filling. Cavity Fillings: A filling is a way to replace the decayed/damaged tooth structure and restoring it back to its normal function. What happens if we delay the treatment? On delaying the treatment, the decay will grow further into the tooth structure and eventually reaching into the pulp chamber. At this stage, to get the tooth back to its normal function the dentist will have to perform a root canal treatment followed by a crown. How do you know if you need a filling? If you have a Blackish-Brownish discolouration on your tooth surface it is time you visit a dentist for examination. Another indication can be food lodgment in a tooth. Lastly mild sensitivity can be another indicator. Filling material: One does not suit all!!! The dentist will according to the clinical situation choose what’s best for you. Depending on the dentist’s assessment, you will be suggested one of the following materials. Gold Silver Composite Porcelain

What is root canal treatment?

Root canal treatment is the removal of the tooth pulp, a small thread like tissue in the centre of the tooth. Root canal treatment preserves a tooth and saves many teeth that would otherwise be lost. A properly done root canal with a cap can last for a lifetime. This procedure is painless as it is done under local anesthesia. At Orthosquare we have highly experienced Root canal specialists who can perform the procedure in a single sitting. We have latest technology like rotary system and laser root canal treatment for this treatment providing our patients with best quality at an affordable cost.
